A very interesting post from  http://www.proenglish.org/ about an English language amendment to S.744. This follows this post about Marco Rubio's alienation from his base. This follows this post about some Republican Senators to be watching for on S.744. This follows this post about the release of illegal immigrant felons from prison by ICEThis follows this post about how to Report Illegal Immigrants! Tell your Senators: Vote YES on the Fischer English Amdt!

http://www.proenglish.org/   Senator Deb Fischer (R-Nebraska) has just introduced an amendment that will address one of the gaping loopholes in the Senate immigration bill.
Under her amendment (Amdt. No. 1348), an illegal alien applying for amnesty who cannot meet minimum English standards will be ineligible for legal status and a work permit.
S. 744 currently contains no provisions to require illegal aliens to demonstrate any English language ability prior to being awarded immediate legal status and work permits. Without her amendment, legalized aliens are able to renew their temporary legal status every six years for the rest of their lives without ever being subjected to an English language test!
Your Senators need to hear from you!  They need to know that you expect them to vote YES on the Fischer amendment.
Failing to provide a strong English language requirement in this massive amnesty proposal will increase the already hefty tax burden on Americans to fund translations and interpreters services.  After all, this legislation is projected to usher in 33 million new immigrants by the year 2024
Call and email your Senators now!
The Senate debate is currently very fluid and the Fischer English amendment could be brought to a vote at any time, as early as tonight!
Call your Senators NOW and tell them to vote YES on the
Fischer English Amendment (#1348)!
