Che Guevara was an international terrorist and mass murderer. During his vicious campaigns to impose Communism on countries throughout Latin America, Che Guevara trained and motivated the Castro regime's firing squads that executed thousands of men, women, and children.
For decades, the Left tried to glorify murderers and thugs like Lenin, Mao, and even Stalin. They are discredited today because people know about their evil deeds. Che is more obscure. He is one notorious figure who is idolized by the Left and hailed as a "hero," yet most students never learn the truth about his cult of violence.
Use the anniversary of Che's death on October 9 to educate the campus community about Che's atrocities.

  University Forces Leftist Indoctrination in the Name of “Diversity”

  Youth unemployment remains high, and the Youth Misery Index continues to increase. How does the University of Washington address this problem? By adding a diversity course to their list of prerequisites.
  Starting in the fall of 2013, University of Washington students cannot graduate until completing a course in "diversity." Students will now have less time to focus on their selected area of study while receiving their required dose of leftist indoctrination.
  The school states, "The requirement is meant to help the student develop an understanding of the complexities of living in increasingly diverse and interconnected societies."
  Will these so-called "diversity" courses include all ideas and perspectives? An article from the Daily UW notes, "Diversity courses will focus on at least one constructed identity and aim to address aspects of prejudice and inequality in contemporary society."
  The diversity coursework is said to embrace "sociocultural, political and economic diversity at local, regional, and global scales." Students will now be required to take classes on "constructed identities" and questions of "oppression" from a very particular and subjective perspective. None of which will help students find jobs to pay off their record-high college loans.
  Sheila Edwards Lange, vice president of the "Office of Minority Affairs & Diversity," stated, "I think that we're finally going to be able to provide the learning that our students need for this century and the future and beyond."
  What kind of learning does the University of Washington think its students need for this "century and the future and beyond?" Not practical economics or business knowledge, but "courses that emphasize constructed identity such as gender, ethnicity, ability, sexuality, religion, and age intending to tackle prejudice and inequality in contemporary society."
  A few diversity courses already offered at UW include "Lesbian Lives and Culture", "Gay and Lesbian Studies", "Feminism, Racism, and Anti-Racism", and "Women and the City." The course "Women, Words, Music, and Change" sounds like it was create by President Obama himself. Where is intellectual diversity in this line up?
  According to a survey launched by Young American's Foundation and conducted by the polling company, inc., the majority of students believe jobs and the economy are the most important issues of today-not diversity.
  Whether or not students take courses to increase proficiency in mathematics, U.S. history, or Western civilization depends upon their specific major. However, every student attending UW will be forced to take a prerequisite for politically correct propaganda.
  Instead of adding course requirements, universities should be making courses and programs more applicable to the current job market and prepare students for the real world. College tuition continues to increase along with the number of years it takes to obtain a bachelors degree. Degrees that should take students four years to complete are now commanding more time. On top of that, many students have difficulty finding jobs to pay off their enormous amount of debt.
  By adding this useless requirement to all three UW campuses, the university will acquire more time and money from their students. This requirement is just another class that aims to ensure each student receives more leftist teaching, yet it does little to prepare students for their future career.

• Wisconsin University Doubles Down on Liberal Bias Shows Need for YAF Lecture Series

  In January, I exposed the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater's Contemporary Public Issues lecture series, on The New Guard. The university spent over $50,000 on liberal speakers this year. Now, after being stonewalled on an open records request, another $50,000 has been spent on-you guessed it-more liberal speakers.
  By encouraging young people like myself, Young America's Foundation is committed to exposing bias in academia.
  For decades, Young America's Foundation has assisted student activists host conservative speakers on campuses around thecountry. Clearly, as YAF's analysis of commencement speakers further indicates, in order for students to hear conservative ideals, other student activists must do the work.
  Students at Marquette University hosted conservative speakers like Michelle Malkin, John Stossel, SE Cupp, Herman Cain, Chris Horner, and Mike Adams on campus with help from the Foundation.
  Whitewater administrators admit they find speakers based on topic. Recognizable conservatives are once again missing from the university speaker series. Topics next year include electric cars, plastic, immigration, and agriculture.
  The speakers, speech topic, honoraria are as follows:
  Chris Paine - $14,000 - How many light bulbs does it take to plug in an electric car? -Paine is a liberal filmmaker and climate change activist. His two documentaries advocate for the need for an electric car.
  Michael Cohen - $7,500- Clear and present safety - Cohen is a former staffer for liberals such as Gov. Bill Richardson (NM) and Senator Chris Dodd (CT).
  Susan Freinkel - $7,500 - Plastic: A Toxic Love Story - Freinkel's talk will surround her book of the same name. Freinkel supports plastic bag bans and many liberal climate change public policy positions.
  Gustavo Arellano - $10,000 - Taco USA - Arellano is a Mexican American who blogs in support of amnesty and in-state tuition for illegal immigrants. Arellano uses satire frequently in his lectures, columns, and book.
  Ruha Benjamin - $5,000 - Race Unplugged - Benjamin is a professor of African American Studies at Boston University. On twitter she has implied FOX News is racist.
  Tom Philpott - $7,500 - Back to the Future of Agriculture - Philpott supports liberal climate change policies in his blog on Mother Jones.
  In total, UW-Whitewater is spending an additional $52,000 on liberal speakers and topics.
  The lecture series has no topics or speakers supporting free markets, tax reform, or smaller government. The university has ignored multiple email and phone call requests for comment on their bias.
  Even with liberals in academia turning a blind eye on conservative ideas, it has become clear YAF's work to bring balance is a much needed breath of fresh air.

• The Daily Caller: DePaul University Presented 'College Stupidity Award' for Trampling on YAF Chapter

  The Daily Caller has released their annual "College Stupidity Awards" (plainly, outrageous occurrences on college campuses). The incident where a pro-life flag display (held by the DePaul University Young Americans for Freedom chapter) was vandalized back in January to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the historic Roe v. Wade decision, was featured in the article. DePaul University was presented the "Most flagrant vandalism of a memorial for dead babies" award. Here is what The Daily Caller wrote about the incident:
  
  On the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, 13 student vandals destroyed an anti-abortion display on the main campus of the nation's largest Catholic university. The makeshift monument was erected by the DePaul chapter of Young Americans for Freedom with school permission. Later, an anonymous student wrote a letter to the student newspaper insisting that students have a right to walk across the Chicago campus without having their pro-abortion sensibilities offended.

  HERNDON, VA - Young America's Foundation's 20th annual "Commencement Speakers Survey" reveals that 62 liberal speakers-and only 17 conservatives-are scheduled to speak or have already spoken at the 2012 commencement ceremonies for the top 100 universities as listed by U.S. News and World Report. 
  Star-studded examples of imbalance include Newark, New Jersey Mayor Cory Booker speaking at his alma mater, Yale University, Washington University in St. Louis and Cornell University. Big government Mayor of New York City Michael Bloomberg will speak at Stanford University, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi will keynote at the University of California-Davis School of Law's commencement, Oprah Winfrey is speaking to Harvard University, and Vice President Joe Biden will give graduates one last dose of liberalism at the University of Pennsylvania.
  Liberal media will be all over college campuses this spring, too. The New York Times staff will be present at four commencements nationwide, including Syracuse University and Indiana University. A plethora of other liberal journalists, including PBS host Gwen Ifill, are addressing graduates. For perspective on the overwhelming bias, News Corp., which owns Fox News, the number-one ranked cable news station and The Wall Street Journal, the newspaper with the largest circulation in the county, has zero personalities speaking this spring.

  To be identified as "liberal" or "conservative" for the survey, speakers must have publicly supported ideological causes through speaking, writing, serving in public office, commentating, or financial contributions.
  While these liberals indoctrinate college students, conservative voices are being silenced. Neurosurgeon Dr. Benjamin Carson, who has risen to national fame for his criticism of this administration's leftist policies, was banned from speaking at Johns Hopkins University by an online petition from liberal students.
  President Obama, who has been on a college campus one out of nine days since taking office, according to an ongoing Foundation study, will be giving three commencement speeches this spring, including at Ohio State University where he challenged the students to "reject" voices who are critical of his big government policies.
  Young America's Foundation's Ron Robinson noted, "As tuition and student loan debt grow at historic rates, what are students getting for their money? An education from leftist professors that-combined with the Obama administration's policies-has left 53 percent of recent grads unemployed or underemployed. These commencement speakers are just the icing on higher education's indoctrination cake."
